About The Position

New Energy Works Timber Frame Project Engineer/Manager maintains full ownership of the design, engineering, and execution of projects from project hand-off to fabrication. This position reports to the General Manager and works with timber frame shop craftspeople, and many other teams and departments throughout our organization. The role requires knowledge of how to bring a project from the design stage through to completion with multiple project team members. The Project Engineer/Manager will be responsible for the creation of a 3D fabrication model, 2D drawing package, obtaining necessary approvals for fabrication, and ordering of materials to complete the project among other tasks. The Project Engineer/Manager is the main point of contact on a project and is responsible for facilitating all client, architect, general contractor meetings. This role can be based in our Portland Design Studio or our McMinnville Shop.

Requirements

  • CAD experience in Core competencies.
  • Knowledge of how to bring a project from the design stage through to completion with multiple project team members.
  • Ability to review and understand the contract and estimate.
  • Ability to generate project milestones.
  • Ability to process all project-specific documentation, including placing purchase orders, generating invoices, tracking changes, and sending change orders.
  • Ability to maintain project documentation in an ERP system (Acumatica).
  • Ability to coordinate finish samples, photo document them, and obtain client approvals.
  • Ability to create project 3D models and drawings.
  • Ability to obtain approval to order project-specific materials.
  • Ability to obtain quotes and order materials.
  • Understanding of the status of material orders and materials throughout the process.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain full ownership of the design, engineering, and execution of projects from project hand-off to fabrication.
  • Create a 3D fabrication model and 2D drawing package.
  • Obtain necessary approvals for fabrication.
  • Order materials to complete the project.
  • Facilitate all client, architect, and general contractor meetings.
  • Review and understand the contract and estimate, including the scope of work that has been sold.
  • Generate project milestones.
  • Place purchase orders to vendors.
  • Generate and invoice clients per project milestone billings or as appropriate.
  • Track project changes and send change orders to clients when appropriate.
  • Maintain project documentation in the ERP system (Acumatica).
  • Coordinate sample creation between the shop and clients.
  • Photo document samples.
  • Obtain client approvals for samples.
  • Create project 3D model and drawings to review with project team (clients, architects, general contractors, owners’ representatives, etc.) and our shop Project Champions.
  • Review fabrication drawings with clients and work through revisions until approval to fabricate is obtained.
  • Obtain approval to order project-specific materials.
  • Obtain quotes and order materials, understanding the status of these orders and materials throughout the process.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
