About The Position

This position is for a Tile Setter within the Facilities Services Bureau of Los Angeles County. The role involves meeting with clients to discuss their tiling and marbling needs, measuring areas, gathering necessary equipment, cutting and shaping tiles or marble, cleaning and leveling surfaces, applying cement and grout, arranging tile shading, cleaning excess grout, conducting post-installation inspections, and maintaining tools and equipment. Requirements

• Completion of a recognized apprentice training program in tile setting work of at least three years' duration OR Four years' experience in tile setting work, one year of which must have been at the journey-level.
• A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation.
• Ability to stand or walk most of the time with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Meets with clients to discuss tiling and marbling needs and visualize the job.
• Measures areas to be tiled or marbled to determine material quantities.
• Gathers tiling equipment based on the job scope.
• Cuts and shapes tiles or marble to the required size and angle.
• Cleans and levels the surface area for tile installation.
• Applies tiling cement and begins tile installation.
• Arranges tile shading in communication with clients/supervisors.
• Applies tiling grout and removes excess thin set.
• Cleans off excess grout to remove film from the tile face.
• Conducts post-installation inspections to find imperfections.
• Maintains tools and equipment by cleaning and storing them.
