About The Position

As a TIG Welder, you will prepare, tack weld, and weld Aerospace grades of tube-sheet and plate into customer-defined configurations. You will use weld jigs, assembly fixtures, and blueprints to meet all customer requirements. Welding will be performed on thin wall materials such as Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Inconel, and Titanium, with material thicknesses ranging from 0.016 to 0.065. Weld types include tube-to-tube, tube-to-sheet, and sheet-to-sheet.

Requirements

  • Must be able to communicate and interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Requires English skills both verbally and written.
  • Basic math skills – add, subtract and knowledge of the decimal system.
  • Basic knowledge of computers.
  • Must be able to understand customer requirements and be able to make determinations based on the specifications and blueprint instructions.
  • Self-driven, Quality Focused, Work in a team environment, Capable of following instructions.
  • Good hand-eye coordination, Responsible and Accountable, Adaptability and flexibility.
  • Ability to function in fast paced environment.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of TIG welding in the manufacturing or production environment.
  • Proficient in TIG welding of thin wall materials, focusing on Aluminum and Stainless Steel.
  • Experience with TIG Weld, filler rods, Rotary Tools and Turn Tables, Regulating gas flow and pressure.
  • Good working knowledge of all welding positions and instrument operation.
  • Requires working knowledge of Calipers – how to read and accurately measure.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, tack weld, and weld Aerospace grades of tube-sheet and plate into customer defined configurations.
  • Use weld jigs, assembly fixtures and blue prints meeting all customer requirements.
  • Assess welds to ensure they are clean, free of error and in accordance with customer specifications.
  • Maintain good working knowledge of the welding characteristics of metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, Inconel and titanium.
  • Lay out, measure and align metal workpieces prior to welding.
  • Read and interpret blueprints.
  • Select and install torch tips and filler rods according to the thickness of the materials and WPS (Weld Procedure Specification).
  • Maintain clean work station following 5S + Safety requirements.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as business and operational needs dictate.
  • Use required PPE required for the department.
