About The Position

The Tig Welder interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine the appropriate welding process. Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying welding techniques and operating various welding devices.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years prior welding experience.
  • Certified welder with experience in TIG welding.
  • Must be self-managing, dependable, and possess the ability to achieve production rates and meet deadlines.
  • Must be comfortable with various materials including aluminum, stainless steel, and steel.
  • Ability to read and use micrometers and dial calipers accurately.
  • Must be detail oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Operates welding equipment to join metal components together using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), also known as tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding and gas metal arc welding (GMAW), sometimes referred to as metal inert gas (MIG) welding.
  • Monitors the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials.
  • Clamps, holds, tack-weld, grind, or bolts component parts to obtain required configuration and position for welding. Use part specific fixtures when provided.
  • Welds components in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Examines work pieces for defects and measures work pieces with straight edges, templates, and/or tape measure to ensure conformance with order specifications and/or drawings.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment for most efficient operation.
  • Examine weld for bead size and quality of weld. Clean off excess weld spatter.
  • Manufacture and inspect part to customers specifications.
  • Perform first piece, in-process, and last piece inspection per print.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Operate welding and all other tools/fabrication equipment, grinders, buff wheels in a safe manner.
  • Processes required paperwork according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • All positions are cross-functional; may assist in other manufacturing areas that management deems necessary.
  • Understand the PLEX system: control panel of loading, recording production, scrap and unloading containers.
  • Comply with all the Anchor Principles and Guidelines, as well as Anchor policies and procedures.
