About The Position

Welds military and commercial vehicles on an Assembly line using the Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and or both Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) processes according to specifications and following all safety regulations. In this role, the welder will be expected to join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable materials by applying appropriate techniques and using various welding devices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification or certificate from a combination welding program
  • All candidates must pass a welder qualification test prior to employment
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a welder with weld experience on heavy duty truck, trailers, or similar equipment
  • Capable of working with minimum supervision
  • Excellent knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret welding work instructions, understand basic weld symbols designs.
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Must be a US citizen or hold a current valid US green card authorized to work in USA
  • Tier III welders must pass a 4G Overhead welder qualification test using the AWS D1.1 2020 using the GMAW and/or FCAW process.

Nice To Haves

  • A valid certificate in welding from an accredited institution is preferred
  • Experience or previous certifications in the GMAW or FCAW welding process a plus
  • 2 years’ experience welding Armor material on Military vehicles a plus

Responsibilities

  • Welds and assembles metal pieces and products by using handheld welding equipment
  • Sets up welding machines and parts for welding; uses hand tools, clamps, jigs, and fixtures
  • Works from specifications, follows work instructions, understands basic weld symbols
  • Prepares and completes work on materials by welding, cutting, grinding, and cleaning metal
  • Ensures sufficient materials are available prior to starting the project
  • Welders must inspect their own work, understand basic weld defects acceptance criteria and utilize standard fillet weld gauge
  • Must follow Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) weld machine settings.
  • Measures and cuts materials to specifications
  • Weld materials using the correct materials to join the metals together
  • Checks finished work to make sure that it falls within the tolerances
  • Follows all safety regulations
  • Other duties as assigned
