About The Position

Sigma Defense is currently seeking a Tier II Network Engineer with remote management experience with BGP and OSPF network protocols, multicast traffic, network monitoring, and encryption device management. The role involves assessing network issues, outages, and operational degradation, performing hub and terminal maintenance, and conducting in-depth log analysis for root-cause isolation. The engineer will also provide expertise in Full Motion Imagery and black/red terrestrial communications networks, support the development and testing of network configurations, system monitoring, remote terminal commissioning, and network problem resolution. Coordination with government and OEM program managers, including SOCOM, is a key aspect of the role, as is provisioning and commissioning new aircraft terminals. The position also requires assisting with upgrades and Information Assurance (IA) hardening.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with assessing network issues, outages, and operational degradation.
  • Ability to perform most hub and terminal maintenance (scheduled and unscheduled) activities.
  • Ability to conduct in-depth log analysis and root-cause isolation.
  • CompTIA Sec+ certification.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain an active Secret security clearance or higher.

  • CCNA certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assess network issues, outages, and operational degradation.
  • Perform hub and terminal maintenance (scheduled and unscheduled) activities.
  • Conduct in-depth log analysis and root-cause isolation.
  • Provide expertise in Full Motion Imagery and black/red terrestrial communications networks.
  • Support the development and testing of network configurations, system-monitoring, remote terminal commissioning, routine preventive maintenance, customer and OEM problem tracking, and network problem resolution in all aspects of networking about the client's Baseband, IF, and RF communications.
  • Coordinate with SOCOM/J63 to ensure support requirements and additional tasking related to data transport requirements are prioritized.
  • Provision and commission new aircraft terminals into the architecture.
  • Conduct and facilitate higher-level troubleshooting activities.
  • Establish and document procedures.
  • Assist with directed/required upgrades and Information Assurance (IA) hardening.
