About The Position

The Store Associate agrees to perform duties that include assisting customers, operating an electronic checkout system, handling and preparing donated items, and maintaining stock levels. This role may also involve advocating for the thrift store and its programs through various communication channels. Additionally, the associate will handle financial transactions, process donations, and perform basic custodial duties to ensure a clean and organized store environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Manager with assigned duties.
  • Assist customers by answering questions about item price or location.
  • Operate an electronic checkout system to record prices, total purchases, and make change.
  • Handle, prepare, and maintain stock levels of donated items.
  • Advocate for the thrift store and its programs through posting flyers, emails, in-person events, social media, and community activities.
  • Receive and verify cash drawer funds from management prior to store opening.
  • Record all money collected for sales in the Point-of-Sale (POS) software and annotate the correct amount in the “Cashier Drawer Slip”.
  • Execute customer sales transactions.
  • Conduct daily cash drawer reconciliation.
  • Balance daily credit card transactions with the daily cash drawer and transmit the batch deposit.
  • Process requests to hold merchandise “Sold & Awaiting Pickup”.
  • Ensure any cash drawer correction, including voids, is authorized by the Manager.
  • Assist with all aspects of donated items, including sorting and tagging merchandise.
  • Place/hang tagged merchandise in designated areas.
  • Perform basic custodial duties such as dusting display areas, cleaning workstations, sweeping floors, cleaning bathrooms and sinks, taking out trash, and sanitizing carts and shopping baskets.
