About The Position

Friends of Switchpoint is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving individuals, families, and veterans experiencing poverty and homelessness in Utah since 2014. Our mission is to empower those in need by addressing the root causes of poverty, providing comprehensive plans, and supporting their journey to self-sufficiency. Our vision is for every individual to embody their worth and value with restored self-esteem, hope, and abilities, thriving in affordable housing. The Thrift Store/Boutique Associate will perform duties and complete all necessary tasks in processing customer sales. This role requires a willingness to assist other floor associates in maintaining all aspects of the store(s), providing excellent customer service, building staff rapport, and promoting sales. The safety of our employees is a primary concern, and employees are expected to follow OSHA proper lifting techniques and safe-lifting ergonomics.

Requirements

  • Excellent Customer Service Skills – professional and kind in all interactions with customers, donors, volunteers, team members, etc.
  • Cashier experience. Has the ability to count change back and work in a fast-paced environment. Must be very accurate with cash handling.
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Able to be on feet for long periods of time.
  • Review and Follow: OSHA Guidelines for Safe Lifting
  • Great at providing customer service to our guests, donors, and staff.
  • Has a good understanding of the value of items.
  • Very organized and detailed in all that is done.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Can drive a box truck and a truck and trailer.
  • Is very reliable and is willing to do what needs to be done to complete the job.
  • Works well with others. Has a great temperament. Is a self-starter.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in merchandising the store.
  • Experience with credit card and cash register reporting procedures.
  • Experience with backroom training, donation processing, and dealing with vendors.
  • Experience with opening and closing store procedures, restocking, and displays.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties and complete all necessary tasks in processing customer sales.
  • Assist other floor associates in maintaining all aspects of the store(s).
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Build staff rapport.
  • Promote sales.
  • Follow OSHA guidelines for safe lifting.
  • Price items at a thrift store pricing.
  • Understand the value of items.
  • Merchandise the store.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Learn reporting procedures of cash register and credit card machine.
  • Assist with donation processing, dealing with vendors, etc.
  • Assist with opening and closing store procedures, restocking, and displays.
  • Collect data necessary to meet funding requirements and statistical reports.
  • Report critical incidents immediately to the Regional Director.
