About The Position

Under direction of the Thrift Store Manager, is responsible for the management of daily thrift store operations by performing the following duties personally or through directing volunteer workers, and is responsible for the overall operation of the thrift store, including but not limited to the following: Promotes, participates in, and ensures a positive customer service culture throughout the store; processes customer transactions at point of sale. Oversees and regularly performs the physical sorting, assessment, and cleaning of donated merchandise; determines salability and/or disposal. Directs and regularly performs sales-floor organization, merchandising, and stocking; identifies needs for replenishment and creates and executes plans for fulfillment. Oversees and regularly performs stockroom functions, including donation receiving, processing and pricing activities, stockroom organization, trash disposal, and donation turnover in processing areas. Prepares, submits, and maintains all applicable paperwork, documentation, and reports associated with daily sales; processing and submitting bank deposits, ensuring the safe handling of all monies and credit card information. Regularly executes, and is responsible for the security, management, and daily balance of all thrift store operating cash, including processing and submitting bank deposits, and ensuring the safe handling of all monies and credit card information.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or completion of GED program
  • Two-year minimum of retail management experience, or equivalent related experience and/or training
  • Knowledge of retail clothing and household goods; familiarity with the techniques of merchandise, with hands-on execution of related tasks, including merchandise organization, sales floor presentation, product rotation, retail store cleanliness and safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with other employees, volunteers and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and operate a cash register, and other simple office machinery.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (i.e., push/pull/lift/carry items in excess of 50 Lbs.)
