About The Position

The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated Assistant Store Manager to oversee operations at our Thrift Store. This position is located at 402 E 7th Street, Joplin, MO. It is a full-time role, requiring 35 to 40 hours per week, and is non-exempt with a pay rate of $16.50 per hour.

Requirements

  • High school/equivalent diploma and one-year related work experience or two years’ work experience without a diploma.
  • Ability to comprehend written job descriptions, cleaning instructions and material safety data sheets.
  • Must be able to operate a cash register, make correct changes for items sold and be bondable.
  • Position requires basic communication with customers and other employees.
  • Must be a team player, a self-starter, and perform well with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with customers and other staff in a manner which promotes positive relationships.
  • Sort donated items.
  • Price donated items.
  • Place donated items on racks/shelves for display.
  • Assist in loading and unloading of the store’s truck, customers’ vehicles, and/or donors’ vehicles.
  • Perform clerk/cashier activities.
  • Promote store sales.
  • Assist in preparing monthly report of daily sales.
  • Adhere to TSA policies and procedures.
  • Assist Store Manager in preparing work schedule to ensure store coverage at all times scheduled to be open. Plan and supervise all employees’ daily activities and workloads, including hours of work and timecards. Timecards are to be totaled, signed by employees and store manager, and submitted to the Business Manager each Monday morning.
  • Assist Store Manager in supervising employees and volunteers in performance of duties to ensure compliance with directives/guidelines to include productivity, work ethic, attendance, and quality of work.
  • Bank cash receipts daily. Safeguard cash at all times. Prepare and submit necessary sales reports and submit promptly to the Business Manager.
  • Report safety hazards. Responsible for the protection of personnel, property, and building.
  • Maintain confidentiality for all aspects of store operations.
  • Assist in maintaining attractive and appreciative window displays.
  • Perform store custodial duties as directed to include wash windows, dust, clean bathroom, sweep/vacuum/mop floors, carry out trash, etc. Each employee may be assigned to clean the break area. It should also be understood that it is the job of all store workers to help keep the showroom clean and neat at all times when the store is open.
