This position serves on the GEICO Safety and Security Threat Management Team working to identify, assess, and manage both internal and external violence risk assessments and persons of interest that may impact GEICO. The role will cover a specified region within the United States and serve on the organization’s Behavior Assessment Response Team (BART). Comprised of multidisciplinary members from across GEICO, the BART is assesses and manages cases in a team environment to help increase the psychological and physical safety for all involved parties. The Threat Management Specialist (TMS) will work under the leadership supervision of the Director of Threat Management. The TMS will be responsible for the discovery, engagement, investigation, and management of incidents and persons of concern, as directed, ad providing case information to senior leadership. The TMS shall serve as an investigative and coordinating case manager for the assigned region and all associated site locations. This role works Monday – Friday and is a hybrid position to include three days a week within one of our regional offices with the option to work from home the other two days. The TMS shall handle behaviors of concern, harm, and threat cases from discovery through closure while working within the threat assessment framework, BART, and across the organization, as well as engaging with external resources. This role provides the necessary immediate attention to incidents and individuals to develop context and understanding related to each case both quickly and effectively. One of the most important traits of the TMS role shall be the ability to lead others on site and express to all that the role of the TMS is to help our associates rise wherever possible so we can help keep our people and facilities safe.

Requirements

  • Experience in threat management and assessment.
  • The ability to be detail oriented, organized, and have report writing, interview, and investigative skills.
  • A balance of independent investigative capacity plus the ability to be part of a team are two important qualities of the person who is hired for the TMS position.
  • Interviewing and investigative skills that include the ability to gain the trust and cooperation of involved parties.
  • Ability to understand and learn database access, entry, and conduct research.
  • Contingent resources for this position must have a current private investigator’s license in the primary state in which you are operating.
  • Basic computer skills and applications.
  • Willingness to learn and develop within the threat assessment field, as well as all associated disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for implementing investigative and assessment protocols as outlined in the “Threat Management and Behavioral Assessment Response Team Procedures” for each Incident Report as indicated.
  • Conduct inquiries into reports of behaviors and incidents of concern.
  • Work with the Site Security Manager and Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) to investigate and prepare complete Incident Reports.
  • Interview involved parties to obtain direct statements for evidentiary direction and support.
  • Access and research proprietary and open-source databases to conduct investigations related to internal and external cases of concern, specifically to identify a grievance, ways to mitigate that grievance, and to conduct an individual assessment.
  • Communicate with Associates through respectful words and actions.
  • Create written reports for inclusion in the Incident Report and threat assessment and management process.
  • Work in concert with members of the BART to manage cases with the focus of helping create safer environments for associates and all communities.
  • Identify and coordinate with stakeholders as identified in each case.
  • Work with GSM’s and external entities involved in cases of threat and incidents of violence or harm that impact the organization.
  • Coordinate with BART team members when there are incidents of trauma that impact the workplace and help identify and meet associates’ needs.
  • Help identify physical security needs for the site of concern and work with site security and staff to meet management needs related to threat management.
  • Task additional threat management needs to Cyber Threat Investigation, and entities to help identify and assess concerns or threats.
  • The TMS shall work directly for the RSM and help assess and triage incidents and persons of concern.
  • The TMS shall provide summary information and assessment data to the Director of Threat Management and assist as needed to help investigate and manage medium and high-level threats or concerns.
