About The Position

American National Insurance Company was founded in 1905 and is headquartered in Houston, TX, with several locations across the US: League City, TX, Springfield, MO, and Glenmont, NY. Our Summer Internship Program is designed to provide students with meaningful, real-world corporate experience while helping build a strong, long-term talent pipeline for American National. The program blends hands-on, role-related project work with intentional learning, leadership exposure, business education, and relationship-building opportunities. Our 2027 summer internship program begins on Monday, May 24 and ends on Friday, August 6. An optional extension to August 13 is available. Intern positions are paid hourly with a full-time schedule of Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week, for the entirety of the program.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Junior standing or higher by the start of the internship; May 2027 graduates are welcome
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Available to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday
  • Able to work onsite at the posted role location
  • Pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Interest in cybersecurity, threat management, and vulnerability management.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts and security best practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with identifying and tracking vulnerabilities across company systems and assets.
  • Support monthly patching and remediation activities.
  • Help perform vulnerability scans and review results.
  • Assist with remediation verification and follow-up activities.
  • Contribute to program documentation and process improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in team meetings, projects, and collaborative activities.
