About The Position

G&G Beverage Distributors, Inc., a proud distributor of domestic, import, and craft beers throughout Connecticut, is seeking a career-minded Third Shift Operation’s Supervisor for its New Haven area operations. The company is a fast-paced, relationship-driven business that requires professionalism, sales ability, strong interpersonal skills, and dedication. As a member of the management team, the supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the night functions of the warehouse, including managing proper order picking for the next day and proper loading of trucks for delivery, while ensuring employees work in a manner that maximizes safety and productivity.

Requirements

  • Has experience in operating a forklift.
  • Detail oriented, with ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Continuous desire to improve.
  • Must be willing and able to work nights.
  • H.S. or GED required.
  • 1-2 years of related warehouse / retail experience, including some management experience.
  • Mechanical ability.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration controls.
  • Forklift safety, OSHA, FDA specs and environmental law/standards.
  • Calculating space/storage footage, etc.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a diverse workforce.
  • Proven planning and execution skills; decisiveness.
  • Ability to work with computerized inventory systems; PC skills and ability to use various communication systems.
  • Strong verbal, written communication skills; organizational skills.
  • Clear business ethics; culturally sensitive.
  • Familiarity with applicable state and federal regulations of the beverage industry.
  • Ability to work effectively with G&G owners, management staff and employees.
  • Ability to convey a positive and professional image, both externally and internally.
  • Ability to solve problem regarding employees, suppliers, operations and finance.
  • All final applicants will be required to comply and pass all drug, background, work assessment and driving checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college preferred.
  • Food & beverage industry experience highly desired.
  • Successful track record of achieving inventory targets, implementing quality process improvements and meeting supplier standards.
  • Experience with union shops desired.
  • First Aid certification desired.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising loading of trucks for deliveries.
  • Overseeing palletization process and making sure that orders are picked and palletized correctly.
  • Supervising a staff of up to 3 forklift and order builders’ operators to maintain productivity levels.
  • Ensuring that orders are properly received and tagged through our warehouse technology platform.
  • Maintaining a safe operating environment for all warehouse crew, ensuring that safety standards and protocol are enforced.
  • Working with Operations Manager and Assistant Operations Manager to maintain efficiency.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility.
  • Ensuring that staffs complete training requirements.
