About The Position

The Third Grade Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, faith-filled, academically challenging, and nurturing classroom environment that supports the spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of each student. The teacher integrates Catholic values and teachings throughout the curriculum while delivering standards-based instruction aligned with diocesan curriculum guidelines and Pennsylvania Academic Standards. The Third Grade Teacher serves as a positive Christian role model, fostering a love of learning, respect for others, and a commitment to service while partnering with parents in the education and faith formation of each child.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education or related field.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate (Elementary K-6 or PK-4, as applicable).
  • Practicing Catholic preferred (or willing to support and uphold the mission of Catholic education in accordance with diocesan policy).
  • Successful completion of all required diocesan background checks and clearances.
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with educational technology.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous elementary teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of differentiated instruction and data-driven decision making.
  • Experience integrating technology into instruction.
  • Familiarity with Standards-Based Instruction and Assessment.
  • Experience working in a Catholic school setting.
  • Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check as required under Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Act 153 of 2014 (No less than 1 year old.)
  • Attendance at the online Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate and support the mission, philosophy, and teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Integrate Catholic values and Gospel teachings into daily instruction and classroom activities.
  • Participate in school Masses, prayer services, liturgical celebrations, and other faith-based activities.
  • Lead daily classroom prayer and encourage students' spiritual growth.
  • Foster Christian attitudes of respect, compassion, responsibility, and service.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with the Diocese of Allentown curriculum and Pennsylvania Academic Standards.
  • Teach all core academic subjects including: Religion, English Language Arts, Reading, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Handwriting.
  • Utilize research-based instructional practices to meet diverse student learning needs.
  • Incorporate technology appropriately to enhance instruction.
  • Promote critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain effective classroom routines and instructional pacing.
  • Assess student learning using formative and summative assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and grades.
  • Analyze assessment data to guide instructional decisions.
  • Provide timely feedback to students and parents regarding academic progress.
  • Prepare report cards and participate in parent-teacher conferences.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, orderly, and respectful classroom environment.
  • Implement school-wide behavior expectations consistently.
  • Encourage student responsibility, independence, and accountability.
  • Promote positive relationships among students.
  • Maintain classroom safety at all times.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to parent inquiries.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional learning communities, and school committees as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and school matters.
  • Complete lesson plans, attendance, grading, and required reports in a timely manner.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development required by the Diocese of Allentown.
  • Support school events including Back-to-School Night, Open House, concerts, field trips, and other school functions.
  • Adhere to all diocesan policies, school procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations.
