About The Position

Ethical Culture Fieldston School is seeking a Third Grade Science Teacher who is a dynamic and creative educator capable of inspiring and motivating students. He/She/They will be someone who is committed to and considers ethics to be at the core of their work with students and colleagues and who will contribute to the academic success of students. This is a part time position (.50 full time equivalency) with a salary range of $37,630-$92,415. Please note that this is an onsite role and not performed remotely. Ethical Culture Fieldston School retains its right to modify job duties in accordance with changing operational needs.

Requirements

  • A Master's Degree, or be in a Master's program
  • At least 1-3 years of previous experience teaching elementary school children

Responsibilities

  • Planning and developing a progressive, science curriculum that is student-centered and promotes activity based learning for children in the 3rd grade; utilizing the existing greenhouse for science curricular initiatives
  • Working collaboratively with other members of the science department to ensure curricular goals are being met vertically throughout the grades
  • Meeting and planning with classroom teachers and other specialists to integrate curriculum and promote STEAM initiatives
  • Communicating with parents regarding the development of their child in science, in addition to delivering parent workshops
  • Implementing behavior management strategies that promote academic, social, and emotional success
  • Participating in weekly grade-level and team meetings
  • Incorporating technology in the classroom to enhance the learning experience
  • Having a collaborative approach with other colleagues, including sharing resources and communicating about curriculum and students
  • Appropriately addressing student behavioral issues and other challenges that may arise in the classroom in order to maintain a safe environment and a sense of calm in such situations
  • Maintaining accurate student record keeping, including grades and attendance
  • Providing encouragement to students to help support their social and emotional growth
  • Ensuring confidentiality of student information as necessary
  • Attending all departmental, divisional, and school-wide meetings
  • Maintaining compliance with all school policies, state regulations, and educational standards
  • Performing other related projects and duties as needed and assigned
