About The Position

The purpose of a Thermo Automation Specialist is to inspect and repair automation equipment, assist with special projects, and assist the Thermoforming Automation Journeyman, Apprentice, and Asst. Group Leaders within their group.

Requirements

  • High school diploma / GED equivalent.
  • Must be Certified Journeyman or have 4 years of work-related experience.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and direct employees.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Have the ability and wiliness to work well with thermoforming manager, coworkers as well as our customers (customers are all Amcor production personnel).
  • Must be self-motivated and self-disciplined abiding by all Amcor codes of ethics, safety policies and rules.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems and proven ability to apply that knowledge.
  • Must possess electrical and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.
  • Verbal communication adequate to use a radio and or paging system to contact other co-workers in other areas of the complex.
  • Ability to Safely use a forklift independently and maintain all applicable training requirements for use in high traffic, low clearance areas while not posing a safety risk to others.
  • Hearing sufficient to recognize and respond to shouted warnings, alarms and horns on forklifts.
  • Stereo optical vision of 20/40 or better and peripheral vision of 70 degrees or greater and ability to read 10–12-point font at a distance of 12-18 inches.
  • Able to see and identify colors. (Complete an “Ishiharar” color Vision Test)
  • Able to stand/walk for 11 hours of a 12-hour shift.
  • Able to use both hands for effective manipulation of tools/parts.
  • Ability to work at heights (with or without fall protection).
  • Must not be at risk of sudden alterations in consciousness.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds a minimum of 10 times per day.
  • Ability to push/pull loads of approx. 45 lbs. at a minimum of 10 times per day/shift.
  • Able to work in extremes of heat/cold.
  • Able to work overhead or in awkward positions on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to occasionally climb on and off a forklift safely and without assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Balance quality, productivity, cost and safety for continual improvement.
  • Monitor, measure and report on maintenance-related processes.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for department personnel.
  • Maintain neat and orderly appearance of shop areas and machines.
  • Inspect and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, electrical and mechanical systems on Thermoforming Automation equipment.
  • Requisition or procure parts required for repairs or projects.
  • Stay cognizant of all work performed on assigned machines and machine performance.
  • Assist leadership in planning of work in the shop and sending work to outside vendors.
  • Provide verbal and written project timelines and projected milestones.
  • Resolve advanced technical challenges by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions and socializing action in support of the maintenance organization.
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned by the leadership.
