About The Position

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As a Test Engineer working with a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will support the Lunar Permanence Core Components Test team through development, acceptance, and qualification testing of flight hardware for the MK1 and MK2 Lunar Landers. This is a hands-on position where you will apply broad multi-disciplinary engineering (fluids, thermal, mechanical, and electrical/electronic) knowledge, skills, and methods to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Requirements

  • Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Hands-on test experience or exposure to at least one of the following: inspection, performance, leakage, shock, vibe, static/dynamic loading, thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, pressurized operations, EMC, or Life testing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills including prioritization, scheduling, and providing succinct status reports.
  • A strong safety record.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years experience/background with pressurized equipment, thermal systems, cryogenics, or vacuum systems.
  • Experience reading P&ID schematics/layout designs.
  • Experience/understands hazardous operations.
  • Experience with inert fluid operations or test.
  • Experience with sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, and execute Thermal and Fluid component tests, which could include development, qualification, acceptance, performance, and environmental testing.
  • Assist in developing test requirements, plans, and procedures to ensure acceptable hardware/system performance.
  • Create and review Test Plans, Test Procedures, safety assessments, schematics, and other engineering artifacts.
  • Procure, and install test support equipment; manage vendors and subcontractors during installation.
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing.
  • Participate in test readiness reviews, pre- and post-test briefings, and post-test reviews.
  • Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations.
  • Reduce, analyze, and archive test data.
  • Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work, and coordinate with internal customers.
