About The Position
FerroWorks, with a long history dating back to 1869, is a leading provider of railroad industry products, including AAR approved couplers and custom solutions. The McConway & Torley division is seeking Thermal Finishers to perform welding, burning, and cutting of steel products. This role involves identifying and repairing casting defects, operating a torch to remove excess material, and adhering to all safety regulations. The position is located in Pittsburgh, PA, and requires the ability to work any shift.
Requirements
- 1 or more years of previous experience
- High school diploma
- Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant
- Be aware of and observe all safety practices. Including but not limited to- Safety glasses, safety boots, hearing protection, etc… as required
- Know and follow all safety rules and procedures.
- Participate in safety committees and initiatives as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Proficiently identify and repair casting defects in assigned workstation (yokes, knuckles, or couplers)
- Proficiently perform carbon arcing
- Operate torch to remove excess material from all casting families.
- Follow all safety rules and practices
- May be involved in safety committees or initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
