Requirements

  • Graduating or recent graduate with a Mechanical Engineering or related degree with interest in Thermal Energy and Power
  • Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites including remote sites
  • Good understanding of engineering and business fundamentals as they apply to engineering problems and projects
  • Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Shows critical and creative thinking and problem solving, and brings forward solutions for our clients' toughest challenges
  • Adapts and embraces change

Nice To Haves

  • Previous coop or summer work terms within the energy industry is an asset
  • Academic or work experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point, and experience in Microsoft Project would be preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work independently and collaboratively to perform studies and calculations throughout the full engineering lifecycle, and collaboratively within diverse project teams
  • Become knowledgeable about a wide range of thermal technologies including geothermal, biomass, waste-to-energy, carbon capture and storage (CCS), gas turbine, reciprocating engine, boilers and emission reduction technologies
  • Conduct technology selection and optimization studies to maximize plant performance and efficiency while meeting the client’s environmental objectives and business needs
  • Develop thermodynamic and heat transfer calculations and models of power plants integrated with industrial processes to develop solutions tailored to our client’s energy needs
  • Write technical papers and present at conferences to demonstrate expertise in the field and engage clients
  • Support business development activities including market analysis, client engagement, and preparing proposals for new work
  • Work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment
  • Conduct site visits, field assessments and client engagement meetings
