You bring passion and dedication to your job, and there's no telling what you could accomplish! We are looking for a Thermal Engineering Technician to join our Thermal Product Design team. In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in characterizing thermal architecture and validating the thermal performance of Apple’s hardware and software across Apple’s ecosystem of hardware products. You'll work hands-on with development hardware, conduct detailed testing, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our products deliver optimal thermal performance. As part of Apple’s Thermal Design Team, you’ll collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to design and execute detailed test plans and report results. Your work involves collecting data, disassembling, modifying, and reassembling Apple’s products to ensure optimal functionality. You’ll work in labs, instrumenting and setting up devices to validate new features, bug fixes, and improvements don’t negatively impact thermal performance. You may also provide technical setup and support for internal investigations, product demonstrations, and technical challenges, configuring and troubleshooting hardware, software, and test equipment. This multi-faceted role requires you to adapt quickly, building complex test plans, dissecting automation scripts, and managing lab setups and equipment for efficiency.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a Lab Technician, QA Technician, or in a related technical role.
• Experience conducting hardware and software testing in macOS or iOS environments.
• Proficiency with Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
• Experience with test equipment such as DMMs, Power Supplies, and eLoads.
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve hardware and software issues.
• Excellent attention to detail in analyzing and documenting test results.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Ability to organize and prioritize day-to-day work into efficient, sustainable workflows.
• Proficiency in thermal measurement methods and infrared camera operation.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with 3D CAD tools.
• Knowledge of electronic and mechanical systems, including DC circuits and soldering.
• Experience with MATLAB or Python for data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Characterize thermal architecture and validate thermal performance across Apple's product lineup
• Disassemble, modify, instrument, and reassemble Apple products for thermal testing
• Execute software-hardware test plans to validate thermal performance.
• Place thermocouples, acquire temperature readings, and operate infrared camera systems.
• Build and run test suites, file bugs and regressions, and communicate status to stakeholders.
• Generate comprehensive test summaries and documentation of experiments and findings.
• Develop and improve test procedures to enhance data quality.
• Manage lab space organization and equipment maintenance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues efficiently.
