About The Position

Performs duties relative to patient care under the direct guidance of a Physical or Occupational Therapist or Aquatic Specialist. The Therapy Technician has cross-trained skills to complete personal cares for patients, vital signs, transfers, transports, assist with therapy treatment, clerical duties, cleans and monitors pools, deck, locker and mechanical room as well as opening and closing of the center.

  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
  • High School or GED Equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Maintains departmental policies, procedures, objectives, safety, environmental and infection control and quality improvement programs.
  • Interacts with patients with various diagnoses including orthopedic and neurological with various co-morbidities.
  • Assists Physical or Occupational Therapist with direct patient care duties that may include answering call lights in lobby and locker rooms, scheduling, providing locker room care of showering, personal hygiene, donning and doffing clothing, transferring patients to and from chairs, manual and power wheelchairs, pool lift chair or plinth, shower bench and treatment plinth, taking vital signs, assisting with pool therapy and transporting patients to and from various areas.
  • Assists with clerical and office duties including stocking supplies, inventory of office supplies, pool chemicals, PPE, and linen and scheduling.
  • operating the pool lifts, maintaining clean and safe works areas including lobby, locker rooms, deck, mechanical room and vacuuming of the pools, testing of pool water chemical levels and adjusting the chemicals appropriately.
  • May monitor the mechanical room and completion of the Mechanical Room Operations Daily Log including filtration and circulation of the pool(s), brominators and muric acide tanks.
  • Performs opening and closing routines for the center.
  • Provides lifeguard support.
  • Maintains clean and safe work areas including lobby, locker rooms, deck, mechanical room and vacuuming of the pools.
  • Supports testing of pool water chemical levels and adjusting chemicals appropriately.
