About The Position

A new 60-bed medical rehabilitation hospital, a partnership between AtlantiCare and Select Medical, is opening in Galloway, New Jersey, in August 2026. This hospital will serve patients in southeastern New Jersey and will be led by a physiatrist. The team will include rehabilitation nurses, physical, occupational, and speech-language therapists, dietitians, case managers, and other clinical and support staff. The hospital is committed to providing exceptional and compassionate care for individuals with various medical, physical, emotional, and vocational challenges, including brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputations, and multiple traumas.

Requirements

  • Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Language Pathologist required.
  • For Speech discipline: Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language & Hearing Association required.
  • Certified BLS or completion in first 90 days of employment required.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of three (3) years experience as a therapist with leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates patient treatment and staff development.
  • Communicates clinical issues related to service or program development to the leadership team.
  • Promotes clinical development, competency, and expertise in staff to maximize patient outcomes.
  • Assists with daily operational management tasks.

  • Provides regular and accurate performance feedback to direct reports focusing on results, skill expansion, process improvement, and learning.
  • Identifies and utilizes individual and team strengths to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration and ensure the success of operational and clinical initiatives.
  • Optimizes departmental operations by identifying current needs, strategically delegating responsibility, and planning for succession.
  • Identifies, responds to, and reports acute changes in patient status.
  • Follows appropriate emergency procedures to ensure patient safety.
  • Coordinates and facilitates departmental response to emergency situations.
  • Pursues focused skill development through continuing education, self-study, and involvement in professional activities and organizations.
  • Utilizes the organization’s performance improvement methodology to improve the quality of services and develop program improvement initiatives.
  • Takes an active role in implementing new PI initiatives, delegating responsibilities appropriately.
  • Provides feedback regarding outcomes to all levels of the rehab department to maximize performance improvement.
  • Serves as a liaison between clinical departments and DOR and/or CEO to communicate and clarify expectations related to departmental needs and organizational initiatives, determine procedures to implement strategic goals, and provide recommendations to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Consistently exhibits commitment to patient-centered care and customer service excellence.
  • Demonstrates empathy in all interactions with patients, patient families, and internal/external customers by responding in a timely, professional, and effective manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
