Therapy - DOR/ADR - Therapy - DOR/ADR

RiverRidge CtrKennebunk, ME

About The Position

Treatment of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) follows a systematic approach to identify, manage, and prevent harmful medication responses. Primary management includes discontinuing or reducing the suspected drug, adjusting doses for predictable reactions, or switching to alternative therapies. Specific antidotes may be administered to reverse toxicity, while supportive and symptomatic care (such as antihistamines or corticosteroids) is used to control reactions. Prevention focuses on careful medication review, monitoring organ function, managing polypharmacy risks, and educating patients for early detection. Specialized strategies are applied for chemotherapy-, immunotherapy-, or hypersensitivity-related ADRs, including prophylactic treatments, temporary therapy suspension, or desensitization when necessary. Ongoing monitoring and mandatory reporting of serious or unexpected ADRs support pharmacovigilance, improve patient safety, and enhance overall quality of care.
