About The Position

RUSH Specialty Hospital is seeking a full-time Therapy Aide for its inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Chicago, Illinois. The hospital provides care for individuals facing medical, physical, emotional, and vocational challenges related to brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputations, and multiple traumas. The Therapy Aide performs patient-related tasks assigned by therapists, assists with patient mobility and positioning, prepares equipment and patients for therapy sessions, and transports patients to and from therapy as needed.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certified in BLS, or completion of BLS certification within the first 90 days of employment.

• One or more years of hospital experience as a therapy aide.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient-related tasks assigned by a therapist.
• Lifts patients to and from mats, treatment and tilt tables, wheelchairs, and other equipment appropriate to the facility or department.
• Assists patients with transfers to all surfaces.
• Assists patients with donning and doffing appliances specific to the facility or department.
• Positions patients in parallel bars and prepares them for standing with appropriate orthotic or prosthetic devices and equipment.
• Transports patients to and from therapy as needed.
• Assists therapists with other appropriate patient-related treatment activities and provides equipment.
• Assists with patient-related activities, including equipment setup and patient positioning in preparation for therapy sessions.
