About The Position

Family & Children’s Services Therapists work to heal hurting and abused children, strengthen families, and provide hope and a path to recovery for people experiencing mental illness and addiction. The Children’s Mental Health Therapist serves children ages 4–18 at school sites, providing evidence-based treatment to children and families who may experience significant behavioral and emotional issues or live in high-stress environments. The therapist collaborates monthly with teachers and conducts intakes, develops treatment plans and updates, and provides individual, family, and group therapy. On occasion, the therapist may also provide services to children or adults in the office-based family-strengthening program. Therapists are primarily embedded in one school, which serves as their workplace, with full access to the client’s education team. Some therapists may serve multiple schools in one area. Schedules may have some flexibility, and therapists can create a daily or weekly schedule that works for them. Schedules follow school schedules for virtual and no-school days. The annual salary is structured around a school year: 10 months of work are paid over a 12-month period. The role operates within the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model of care, an innovative, team-based approach to whole-person care for adults and children with complex mental health and substance use challenges. Staff work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and support client recovery. CCBHC services include increased access to care and crisis services; expanded community mental health and substance use services; care coordination and physical health screening; greater access to social services; and specialized services for veterans, people most in need, and those affected by the opioid crisis. This is a safety-sensitive position under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act. A medical marijuana license does not exclude an applicant, but all employees are subject to the Family & Children’s Services Drug Free Workplace Policy.
