About The Position

The Therapist provides therapeutic behavioral health services for individuals and their families/support system with forensic, mental health and co-occurring mental health and substance abuse challenges. The Therapist is responsible for the delivery of individual, group and family therapy, and collaborates with other members of the treatment (recovery) team to help develop and implement comprehensive wellness and recovery (treatment) plans.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Behavioral Sciences from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of paid professional experience in a behavioral health setting.
  • Maintain a valid Driver’s License.
  • Meet company standard for criminal history background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional license in Counseling or social work.
  • At least three (3) years paid professional experience in a behavioral health setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provides therapeutic behavioral health services for individuals and their families/support system with forensic, mental health and co-occurring mental health and substance abuse challenges.
  • Responsible for the delivery of individual, group and family therapy.
  • Collaborates with other members of the treatment (recovery) team to help develop and implement comprehensive wellness and recovery (treatment) plans.
  • Gathers data in relation to the consumer’s age and provides relevant information to the Multidisciplinary Treatment Team.
  • Identifies risk factors regarding health and lifestyle.
  • Identifies emotional barriers as it relates to the consumer’s mental health diagnosis.
  • Assesses consumer’s involvement in work, family, and community and adjustment to changes and limitation associated with aging and mental health diagnosis.
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary Treatment Team to review the psychosocial history and assessment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of interactions between mental illness and substance abuse.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and skills with substance abuse, dependence and other addictive behaviors over the course of treatment.
  • Identifies/provides feedback to identify goals, measurable objectives, and interventions to assist consumers in attaining these goals.
  • Throughout the treatment planning process uses knowledge of normal growth and development for young adults and adults.
  • Provides individual and group therapy and family counseling as appropriate/needed.
  • Documents consumer progress in accordance to established treatment goals.
  • Provides one on one time to address certain issues or when requested by a consumer, family member or the multidisciplinary Treatment Team.
  • Refers consumers through the proper channels when their problems require a different level of assistance.
  • Records consumers attendance following direct contact or missed appointments.
  • Networks with community agencies (including Resource Coordinators/Intensive Case Managers, etc.) as authorized by the client to increase service delivery.
  • Supervises and guides Mentor I and Mentor II interventions with Young Adult consumers.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled clinical case review and administrative meetings.
  • Reports to the multidisciplinary Treatment Team on the progress of consumer’s treatment goals and other relevant issues, such as attendance, compliance with medications.
  • Participates in interagency communication as it applies to facilitating consumer’s treatment plan.
  • Assists in the periodic review of the consumer’s treatment plans.
  • Organizes time and caseload such that all treatment plan reviews are completed with the time frames set by funding and/or regulatory requirements.
  • Provides feedback to complete clinical discharges of consumers, which meet established payer and/or regulatory standards/requirements.
  • Monitors male-female and other interactions and appropriately intervenes when boundaries are violated.
  • Monitors and maintains the environment for safety of the consumer, staff, and visitors.
  • Reports serious incidents and/or breaches in policy and procedure to the Program Director.
