About The Position

The Therapist is responsible for performing client care activities as directed by the attending physician, Medical Director, Executive Director, and Clinical Director. He/she will provide group therapy as ordered by the Clinical Director. Collaborates with the Treatment Team in the formulation of the Master Treatment Plan and assists in coordinating discharge planning.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience the behavioral health field.
  • CPR Certification preferred.
  • Valid motor vehicles license required if transporting clients or to client homes.
  • If licensed, and do not currently have CAQH or NPI, obtain a CAQH and/or NPI within two weeks of start date OR obtain within two weeks of receipt date if licensure is received after start date.
  • Substance Use CRSS certification and above (preferred or willing/able to obtain) (Florida Requirement).
  • CAC, CAP, LMHC, LCSW or Registered Intern with active clear license or certification in good standing (Florida Requirement).
  • Experience may substitute except where license or certification is required by licensing standards (Florida Requirement).
  • Master’s degree (preferred) or a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Substance Use or health-related field (New Hampshire Requirement).
  • LCMHC, MLADC, LADC, LICSW, LMFT certification/licensure desired but not required (New Hampshire Requirement).
  • A Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), or a(n): Registered Nurse certified as a Psychiatric Nurse, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with appropriate specialization certification, Medical Doctor (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) (Maine Requirement).
  • Any individual with a credential listed in Section J (1) (a-h) above may be employed as clinical staff in a substance use disorder program only when that individual has completed one (1) year clinical experience in substance abuse treatment and a minimum of sixty (60) hours of alcohol and drug education within the last five (5) years (Maine Requirement).
  • Education accepted by the Department includes, but is not limited to, training and continuing education approved by the Maine State Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors, 02-384 CMR Chapters 1-9 (Maine Requirement).
  • Any of the credentials listed in Section J (1) (a-h) above may forego additional education hours and experience if they possess a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) credential (Maine Requirement).
  • Each substance abuse counselor shall be either an LCADC or CADC or another licensed health professional doing work of an alcohol and drug counseling nature within their scope of practice (New Jersey Requirement).
  • A CADC must work under the supervision of an LCADC, or another New Jersey licensed clinical professional designated as a qualified clinical supervisor per N.J.A.C. 13:34C-6.2 (New Jersey Requirement).
  • A CADC cannot diagnose substance abuse (New Jersey Requirement).
  • Substance abuse counseling staff without an LCADC or CADC status or who do not possess another New Jersey clinical professional license that includes work of an alcohol or drug counseling nature within their scope of practice shall function as alcohol and drug counselor-interns or credential-interns and shall: Be enrolled in a course of study leading to a CADC or LCADC, or another New Jersey clinical professional license that includes work of an alcohol and drug counseling nature within its scope of practice, without regard to changes in N.J.A.C. 10:161A-1.9 employment, with progress towards certification or licensing on file, reviewed by the facility at least semi-annually and documented; and Be trained, evaluated and receive continuing formal clinical supervision by the director of substance abuse counseling or designee, pursuant to the clinical supervision rules of the State health professional licensing board for the course of study in which they are enrolled (New Jersey Requirement).
  • Counseling staff employed in a residential substance use disorders treatment facility after July 15, 2013, shall have three years from the date of employment to become certified as an LCADC or CADC, or another clinical licensed professional that includes the work of an alcohol and drug counseling nature within its scope of practice (New Jersey Requirement).
  • Only staff possessing the appropriate clinical background and educational qualifications from the appropriate clinical discipline may provide the diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of clients with co-occurring disorders (New Jersey Requirement).
  • A Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) or certified as a Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) with an active clear license or certification in good standing (Colorado Requirements).
  • A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) (Colorado Requirements).
  • A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with an active and clear license (Texas Requirements).
  • A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) (Texas Requirements).
  • A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or a Licensed Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (LCAC) with an active and clear license (Wisconsin Requirements).
  • May potentially work under a Professional Counselor Training License (LPC-IT) depending on experience or supervision requirements (Wisconsin Requirements).
  • A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with an active and unrestricted license (Pennsylvania Requirements).
  • Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (LADAC), Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (CADC), Certified Peer Support Workers (CPSW); Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Psychologist, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) (New Mexico Requirements).
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Psychologist or Licensed Psychologist (New Mexico Requirements).
  • Active and unrestricted Nebraska Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) credential (Nebraska Requirements).
  • Active and unrestricted Nebraska Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP) or Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) credential (Nebraska Requirements).
  • Substance Use Disorder Counselor (SUDC), Advanced Substance Use Disorder Counselor (ASUDC), Master Addictions Counselor (MAC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) (Utah Requirements).
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) (Utah Requirements).
  • Must obtain an LADC or CADC license, requiring a master’s degree (or lower for CADC), supervised practice, and passing the IC&RC exam (Vermont Requirements).
  • Vermont LCMHC (Clinical Mental Health Counselor), LICSW (Clinical Social Worker), psychologist, psychiatrist, or equivalent (Vermont Requirements).
  • Certification such as Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) or Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CAADC), overseen by the Alcohol & Drug Abuse Certification Board of Georgia (ADACBGA) (Georgia Requirements).
  • A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) (Georgia Requirements).

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in Interdisciplinary Treatment Plan meetings.
  • Share pertinent information with the team as obtained from the client's family, or others as indicated throughout the program.
  • Attend daily and weekly staff meetings according to the schedule.
  • Evaluate the impact of therapeutic interventions upon the therapeutic milieu.
  • Facilitate group therapy.
  • Perform individual therapy with client/family.
  • Document the assessment of client progress/regress and interventions provided in the medical record, on an ongoing basis.
  • Recognize, respond to and assist in psychiatric crisis situations and provide the necessary intervention.
  • Respond and assist in medical emergency situations as directed and needed.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, staff and physicians.
  • Provide clients with education and instruction on Advance Directives.
  • Attend and participate in monthly Program Staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties assigned.
  • Protect the privacy of all client information in accordance with GRNH, LLC’s privacy policies, procedures and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principle of professionalism as a healthcare provider. Failure to comply with the company’s policies and procedures on client privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
  • May access protected health information (PHI) and other patent information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties.
  • The incumbent may only share such information with those who have a need-to-know specific client information you have in your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other GRNH, LLC operations.
  • Expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding GRNH, LLC’s policies and procedures on client privacy and any observed practices in violation of the policy to their supervisor.
