About The Position

Under direction, provides trauma-informed therapeutic services to youth within a juvenile justice setting, supporting rehabilitation, emotional regulation, and successful reintegration. Conducts comprehensive risk assessments, develops individualized safety plans, initial service plans, and delivers individual and group therapy. Collaborates with multidisciplinary staff, families, and external providers to ensure coordinated care and continuity of services. Monitors clinical progress, maintains accurate and compliance documentation, and participates in program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives. Addresses behavioral challenges and conflict through evidence-based interventions and crisis management. Promotes a safe, structured environment while upholding professional, ethical and legal standards.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a directly related mental health field
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a professional staff providing mental health services
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Limited Licensed Master of Social Work (LLMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Limited Licensed Psychologist (LLP), Limited License Professional Counselor (LLPC)
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with adolescents
  • Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, mental illness, co-occurring disorders and/or individuals with trauma history
  • Previous experience in the supervision and/or management of professional staff
  • Effectively speak, write, and understand a language other than English is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct and indirect services to residents, their families and designated others.
  • Implements program components including individual and group modalities.
  • Conducts thorough, accurate, and clinically sound triage/screening with residents in a timely manner.
  • Provides individual and group counseling services to juveniles placed in the Juvenile Justice Center.
  • Performs crisis intervention utilizing verbal de-escalation skills.
  • Assumes the lead role in projects and team activities as assigned by the Program Supervisor.
  • Maintains accurate clinical documentation, including assessments, progress notes, service plans and other required documentation.
  • Ensures administrative documentation is completed in accordance with facility/licensing requirements.
  • Participates in facility staff meetings.
  • Provides training to staff regarding a variety of clinical topics.
  • Facilitates clinical appointments with community partners as required.
  • Participates in agency and system staff meetings.
  • Operates an automobile to perform assigned job functions.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
