About The Position

The WISe Therapist provides intensive, community-based behavioral health services to youth and families who have complex behavioral health needs and are enrolled in the WISe (Wraparound with Intensive Services) program. This includes assessment, therapeutic intervention, safety planning, crisis response, treatment plan development, and participation in Child and Family Team meetings. The role operates under general supervision and promotes individualized, culturally responsive, youth-driven care. This position is distinguished by its focus on delivering WISe services within a wraparound model. Unlike general outpatient therapist roles, this position provides intensive in-home and community-based services, collaborates with multidisciplinary and cross-system partners, and responds to crises as part of the WISe team. Work is performed in close partnership with families, natural supports, school systems, Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF), juvenile justice entities, peer partners, and other WISe team members.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Social Work with a strong emphasis in the clinical/therapy treatment of individuals OR for internal candidates currently working at Renew: Internal candidates in an approved internship program, AND who are within 60 days of completing their approved degree program, as otherwise required may apply for consideration
  • Meets the definition of a Mental Health Professional under current WAC and RCW requirements.
  • Two years of related experience in the direct treatment of individuals and families with emotional or behavioral disorders.
  • Experience providing therapeutic services, including assessment, treatment planning, and counseling in home, school, or community settings.
  • Experience responding to escalated or aggressive behaviors using least-restrictive interventions.
  • Experience using electronic health records or similar documentation systems.
  • Washington State Registered Agency Affiliated Counselor Credential: Licensure. Must maintain an active credential with the State of Washington.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License with proof of automobile insurance and acceptable driving abstract.

Nice To Haves

  • Training and/or application in WISe practices and the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths Assessment (CANS).
  • Training in Evidenced Based Practices for youth and families.
  • Experience collaborating with schools, juvenile courts, or DCYF.
  • Spanish Bilingual/Bicultural.
  • Mental Health Specialist (see WAC and RCW) specific to children, geriatric, developmental disability and ethnic minorities.
  • Experience working within community-based mental health or county/regional behavioral health systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts clinical and psychosocial assessments to identify youth and family needs, inform treatment planning, and determine appropriate WISe interventions.
  • Provides individual and family therapy using evidence-informed practices appropriate for children and adolescents.
  • Participates in Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings to develop, implement, and update individualized care plans consistent with WISe standards.
  • Facilitates safety planning and crisis stabilization services with youth and families to address acute needs and reduce risk of hospitalization.
  • Delivers intensive in-home or community-based services to strengthen family functioning, build skills, and promote stability.
  • Collaborates closely with WISe team members, including Youth Partners, Family Partners, and Care Coordinators, to align therapeutic strategies with CSCP (Cross-system Care plan) goals.
  • Engages school systems, DCYF, juvenile justice partners, and medical providers to coordinate services and reduce barriers to care.
  • Provides clinically informed guidance to the WISe team regarding treatment recommendations and youth needs.
  • Monitors treatment progress and adjusts interventions based on response and evolving circumstances.
  • Maintains timely and accurate documentation consistent with WAC, RCW, WISe fidelity standards, and agency requirements.
  • Completes service coding, billing documentation, and insurance requirements in alignment with program expectations.
  • Upholds youth and family rights while delivering services that reflect cultural, linguistic, and developmental needs.
  • Participates in required trainings and professional development to maintain competency and meet regulatory expectations.
  • Participates in a rotation of holding the WISe support line phone and responding to after hours or weekend crisis calls
  • Effectively collaborate with other WISe staff and system partners
  • Demonstrate a high level of flexibility and accessibility in order to meet WISe principle of meeting families needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
