About The Position

The Association for Individual Development (AID) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower people with physical, developmental, intellectual, mental health challenges, those who have suffered a trauma, and those at risk to enjoy lives of dignity and purpose. We are looking for a Therapist Qualified Mental Health Professional who exemplifies that mission and wants to work for an organization that makes a difference. The Therapist QMHP is responsible for the provision of counseling, skills training and case management services to a caseload of clients who are diagnosed with persistent mental illness. Services are provided in family and individual treatment settings with both adult and children/adolescents. Services are offered both onsite and, in the community, or client home. Therapists are expected to work with a team of service providers within the agency and throughout the social service community to ensure that all needs of clients are met.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a human services field required
  • License preferred (LPC or LSW) referred
  • At least 1 year of experience in behavioral health preferred
  • Navigation of stairs on a regular basis.
  • Tolerance of unkempt home conditions of clients
  • Computer with working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications
  • Copy machine
  • Telephone with voice mail system
  • Flexibility to work evening hours
  • Use of personal automobile
  • Maintain automobile liability insurance as defined by AID’s personnel policies
  • Maintain valid Illinois driver’s license
  • Meet/maintain driving record standards as defined by AID’s insurance carrier.

Responsibilities

  • Attend scheduled work hours including evening hours
  • Provide effective individual and group counseling
  • Complete clinical assessments that meet the requirements of program funders and applicable administrative rules
  • Provide case management services as medically necessary
  • Complete required documentation (IM+CANS, documentation including encounters, consents) on a timely basis
  • Meet minimum service provision/productivity requirements as assigned by Director based on specific job duties
  • Acquire and maintain required certifications and trainings
  • Maintain client files according to agency policy
  • Maintain professional judgment and performance regardless of personal issues
  • Abide by AID’s Code of Ethics, policies and procedure
  • Schedule and conduct treatment planning meetings as necessary
  • Obtain input from consumers and other stakeholders on how to improve service provision
  • Provide outcome evaluation data to supervisor
  • Maintain a positive professional working relationship with agencies and other stakeholders
  • Maintain a positive professional working relationship with coworkers within AID
  • Assist clients in obtaining and maintaining public entitlements as necessary
  • Participate in agency committees as assigned
  • Participate in clinical supervision a minimum of one time per month
  • Provide outreach services to clients who are unable or unwilling to engage in office-based services
