About The Position

In this role, the successful candidate provides appropriate therapy to help patients improve their ability to perform activities of daily living and to achieve optimal level of self-care and productivity. Uses clinical expertise to plan the delivery of safe, therapeutic, and age appropriate care through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Occupational Therapy (Accreditation Council of Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) approved OT program).
  • Minimum 3 year experience in Hospital (Inpatient) or Orthopedic (Outpatient) rehabilitation setting.
  • Current and valid NYS Occupational Therapy license and registration or limited permit.
  • Current CHT certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Current and valid BLS or CPR certification from the American Heart Association - Outpatient facility only.
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills.
  • Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy (Accreditation Council of Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) approved OT program).
  • 3+ years in outpatient, certified hand therapist or experiencing making splints, experience preferred with orthopedic and neurological patients.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs an objective functional evaluation including appropriate tests and measures and establishes a plan of care with measurable goals.
  • Implements appropriate interventions treatment as indicated by the patient's functional status, diagnosis, and age in conjunction with the plan of care.
  • Maintains accurate, complete and timely documentation reflecting the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, plan of care, education and interventions.
  • Interacts and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes and health care goals. Provides on-site clinical supervision to Occupational Therapist Assistants and Rehabilitation Aides.
  • Evaluates patient progress toward functional goals, and will modify the the plan of care accordingly.
  • Provides patient, family, and clinician education regarding the patient's functional status and plan of care.
