About The Position

The Association for Individual Development (AID) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower people with physical, developmental, intellectual, mental health challenges; those who have suffered a trauma; and those at risk, to enjoy lives of dignity and purpose. We are looking for a Therapist Mental Health Professional MHP?QMHP in Dekalb, IL who demonstrates this mission and wants to work for an organization that makes a difference in the community. The Therapist MHP is responsible for the provision of case management and counseling services to clients who are diagnosed with persistent mental illness. Therapist MHP are expected to work with a team of behavioral health service providers within the agency. Employee promotes awareness and respect for the diversity of our clients, employees, families and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Education: MHP: Bachelor’s degree in a human service field required. QMHP: Master’s degree in a human services field required
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in behavioral health preferred
  • Physical: Navigation of stairs on a regular basis Tolerance of unkempt home conditions of clients
  • Equipment: Computer with working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications Copy machine Telephone with voice mail system
  • Additional Requirements: Flexibility to work evening hours Use of personal automobile Maintain automobile liability insurance as defined by AID’s personnel policies. Maintain valid Illinois driver’s license. Meet/maintain driving record standards as defined by AID’s insurance carrier.

Responsibilities

  • Attendance at scheduled work hours including evening hours
  • Provide effective individual, couples, & family counseling, as assigned
  • Complete clinical assessments that meet the requirements of program funders and applicable administrative rules
  • Refer clients for community-based case management services as needed
  • Complete required documentation (IM+CANS, documentation including encounters, consents) on a timely basis
  • Meet minimum service provision/billing standards.
  • Acquire and maintain required certifications and trainings
  • Abide by AID’s Code of Ethics, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain professional judgment and performance regardless of personal issues
  • Complete IM+CANS and other agency paperwork with clients.
  • Obtain input from consumers and other stakeholders on how to improve service provision
  • Provide outcome evaluation data to supervisor.
  • Maintain a positive professional working relationship with agencies and other stakeholders
  • Maintain a positive professional working relationship with coworkers
  • Assist client in maintaining public entitlements as applicable.
  • Participate in agency committees as assigned
  • Provide counseling/therapy services to clients in the setting of their choice (ie. Home, office or community).
