About The Position

Provide mental health therapy with children and families to promote optimum mental and emotional health. Therapy assessment, intervention, and support will address the impact of trauma and healthy attachments. This role is with a non-profit focused on creating the best possible outcomes for vulnerable youth in the community.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work or clinical Counseling or related field
  • A minimum of 2 years therapy experience with children and families (may include therapy internships).
  • Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) required. May consider LMHP with extensive and comprehensive relevant experience.
  • Must be eligible for and maintain credentials to participate in Medicaid and private insurance provider panels.
  • Strong direct service professional skills, including client-centered, strength-based therapy services.
  • Commitment to empowering others to achieve healthy problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstration of a belief in a person’s ability to change and grow.
  • Understanding and maintenance of clear professional boundaries, with sensitivity to the vulnerabilities of those served.
  • Ability to collaborate with coworkers and other service providers.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to clients, families, co-workers, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
  • Commitment to follow the ethics of the profession and comply with all laws, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures that govern therapeutic practice.
  • Family and individual counseling experience.
  • Understanding of the process of advocating for families and children involved in the child welfare system.
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to the varying backgrounds and personal perspectives of others.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups and testify in court.
  • Ability to analyze and make recommendations regarding individual cases and to apply larger, systemic issues.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and act accordingly, and, when appropriate, to seek the counsel of a supervisor or consultant.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret forms, documents, evaluations, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries and complaints from clients and other providers.
  • General mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, computation of ratios, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred knowledge of evidenced based practices including: Attachment Theory, Trauma Theory, Parent Child Interaction Therapy, Child-Parent Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (Trauma Focused and Alternatives for Families), Circle of Security, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy service, emphasizing treatment of trauma and/or attachment related problems.
  • Provide comprehensive clinical assessments for assigned clients.
  • Manage caseloads and meet minimum direct service expectations.
  • Serve as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team and collaborate to ensure good continuity of care.
  • Complete paperwork including progress notes, reports, assessments, service plans, and discharge summaries in a timely manner.
  • Effectively engage clients in treatment plans that result in positive outcomes.
  • Provide supervision for practicum students and clinical supervision for therapists and other staff as needed.
  • Effectively utilize evidenced-based therapeutic interventions.
  • Collaborate with community partners to meet the needs of children.
  • Complete service and billing documentation in a timely manner.
  • Participate in consultation and supervision sessions.
  • Collect statistics and implement Continual Quality Improvement procedures.
  • Drive to and from home and school-based appointments.
  • Provide community parties with education on parent/child relationships, trauma/attachment issues, abuse/neglect issues, and intervention techniques.
  • Complete training necessary for position and professional growth.
  • Facilitate a team atmosphere by working in partnership with other agency staff and promoting a positive working environment.
  • Represent the agency and programs positively to clients, community organizations, and the public.
  • Show flexibility with regard to work schedule; evening and weekend work is required.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
