About The Position

Davis Behavioral Health is actively seeking a full-time Therapist to work on the Adult Substance Use Disorder outpatient team. This position is responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, providing individual, group, and family therapy, and monitoring client progress using evidence-based and trauma-informed interventions. The therapist collaborates with the multidisciplinary treatment team, provides crisis intervention as needed, and maintains timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with agency and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a masters-level clinician in the State of Utah.
  • Clinical expertise in screening, assessments, diagnosis, and crisis intervention.
  • Skills in working with substance use disorders, and with individuals and families undergoing acute episodes of psychiatric distress.
  • Knowledge of the ASAM patient placement criteria for determining level of care and guiding treatment.
  • Demonstrates the skills necessary to motivate and engage clients their natural support systems.
  • Considerable knowledge of the techniques and principles of recovery, and mental health/addiction treatment.
  • Considerable knowledge of trauma-informed care, including screening, assessing, and treating from a trauma-informed lens.
  • Good organizational and practice management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff and community agencies (such as courts, DCFS, workforce services, AP&P, etc.).
  • Flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work. One evening until 8PM is required for all Adult Substance Use Therapists; however, some positions have requirements for more evenings and weekends.
  • Uses social work methods and principles to observe, interpret, and evaluate data gathered through interviews, collateral consults, and assessment methods.
  • Contacts, utilizes, develops and coordinates with community agencies and resources to support client needs.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills required.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office products is required.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Must not be currently using illegal drugs or abusing alcohol.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment drug screening by providing a valid sample.
  • Must report for a drug screen within 24 hours of being requested.
  • No use of medical marijuana.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health and substance use disorder assessments and diagnoses as appropriate.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans consisting of mutually agreed-upon goals and objectives and update as needed.
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy using evidence-based interventions to decrease symptoms and improve functioning.
  • Maintain agency standards for productivity and documentation.
  • Coordinate with other staff and community agencies as needed to provide effective care.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and regularly scheduled supervision.
  • Complete all required training that is assigned to this position by the defined deadlines.
  • Maintain professional and ethical standards.
  • Provide treatment to individuals experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions.
  • Provide crisis assessment and intervention when necessary.
  • Ensure services support client stability, recovery, and functioning in the community.
  • Work a minimum of 2 evenings per week.
  • Facilitate multiple groups each week.
  • Provide weekly court reports for specialty courts.
  • Attend specialty courts as requested.
  • Participate in yearly Recovery Days.
