About The Position

AbbVie is seeking a Therapeutic Specialist, Vision Care for Manitoba and Saskatchewan. This field-based role reports to the District Manager in Ontario and the Prairies for Vision Care. The candidate will be responsible for managing and leading business development in key customer accounts, focusing on the Glaucoma and Dry Eye Disease product portfolios. The Therapeutic Specialist will be the primary contact for identified Key Accounts, building and developing long-term customer relationships. The role involves cultivating relationships with existing customers, expanding awareness and use of AbbVie Vision Care products, and managing sales at the customer and hospital level to meet or exceed sales targets. Essential skills include flexibility, strong interpersonal and client relationship skills, and a solution-oriented mindset. The Specialist will act as the customer expert, manage AbbVie's commercial relationships with External Experts, maintain a macro view of customer relationships, and collaborate cross-functionally to maximize sales. They will work with multiple stakeholders to ensure effective execution of customer strategy and sales expectations, identify mutual interests with Key Accounts, co-develop solutions, and proactively address challenges to customer interactions. The Specialist is the core customer advocate within AbbVie, identifying customer issues, concerns, and priorities, and building deep engagements within Key Accounts to understand their priorities, structure, and business environment to maximize sales.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Science or equivalent, or MBA combination of experience and education required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of Sales and/or marketing/or head office operational experience.
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical/Medical Sales is required.
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving and/or exceeding business results.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong business acumen and self-starter.
  • Demonstrates leadership capabilities, listening and adaptability skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate cross-functionally within the company.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior leaders both with customers & internally.
  • Candidate must be fluent in English. Both verbal and written.
  • Highly collaborative with a customer-centric mindset.
  • Able to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Position requires evening/weekend work, including overnight travel.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.
  • Ability to think strategically to support the development of a high-quality territory plan.
  • Display sound business judgment (having an executive leadership mindset to assess local market and set direction). Ability to predict contingent outcomes from both a customer and competitive perspective.
  • In-depth analytical skills, to enable appropriate and optimal understanding of data, to assess dedicated business outcomes in the decision-making process and achieve strategic goals.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with in-field team members, to develop and maximize the integrated account plan.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing trusting relationships with Key accounts and growing those relationships to ensure maximum share of the Glaucoma and Dry Eye Disease markets.
  • Developing account specific strategies in accordance with AbbVie’s guidelines and values
  • Collaborating with the AbbVie Medical team and AbbVie Institute’s Clinical Specialist in the field to optimize product knowledge and business training acumen.
  • Develop comprehensive and strategic business plans in order to increase market share in the glaucoma and dry eye product portfolio.
  • Conduct regular sales reviews of business territory performance externally and internally.
  • Execute national marketing programs collaborating with internal cross-functional teams.
  • Identify new collaboration & growth opportunities within existing Key Accounts, as well as identify new Key Accounts.
  • Proficiently manage overall budget & resource allocation for the territory.
