About The Position

Rehab Without Walls Neuro Rehabilitation is seeking a full-time Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) for their outpatient clinic. This role focuses on using therapeutic recreation and real-world activities to help individuals with neurological conditions (brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, strokes) regain independence, confidence, and quality of life. The position involves working within a collaborative interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation Therapy, or the equivalent.
  • Maintains certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Therapist (CTRT) through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
  • Maintains professional license and/or certification if required by the state in which the CTRS practices.
  • Minimum of two years therapeutic therapy experience and therapeutic recreation program design.
  • Experience working with patients with neurologic or orthopedic injuries or conditions.
  • Demonstrates effective and professional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and part of a team.
  • Demonstrates strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Has reliable transportation and can travel to/from multiple assignments/locations on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive evaluations, assessing patient needs and setting measurable objectives and goals in conjunction with the rehabilitation team.
  • Adjusts treatment to achieve maximum results in independence and/or function.
  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates recreation activities, functional leisure skills, and leisure education.
  • Interviews the patient to assess capabilities, interests, and barriers.
  • Monitors progress and recommends changes or modifications to the program as necessary.
  • Designs community reintegration activities to assist patients with physical and cognitive needs during recreational/leisure activity.
  • Assists the patient in understanding their various needs and limitations and how to manage them during function.
  • Regularly re-assesses the effectiveness of the treatment plan, patient progress towards goals, and the need for modifying goals or treatment.
  • Communicates patient needs and progress to the treatment team, physician, patient, family members, and others as applicable.
  • Observes, documents, and reports changes in the condition/status of the person receiving services to the Clinical Coordinator, Program Manager or DCM, attending physician, and other treatment team members.
  • Consults with medical providers regarding patient evaluation, treatment, progress, and discharge from treatment.
  • Maintains and submits evaluation, treatment, and billing documentation in the format and timelines required by the Company, facility, funding source, local, state, and federal regulation.
  • Adheres to standards of the Company's Code of Business Conduct, policies, HIPAA and Corporate Compliance programs and appropriate professional practice standards and applicable state/federal laws.
  • May work with rehabilitation specialists in fulfilling the patient’s treatment plan through instruction in patient-related activities to be carried out by the rehabilitation specialist with supervision provided by the Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
