About The Position

AWARE is seeking a Therapeutic Recreation Service Technician to provide support to clients in Anaconda, Montana. The role supports adults, children, and families in becoming active members of their communities and working toward personal growth. The technician leads and participates in recreational activities and life-skills development, implements client-sensitive interventions, and collaborates with the Therapeutic Recreation Program Director (TRPD) and treatment team. The position is full-time and pays $19.00–$23.59 per hour to start.

Requirements

High school diploma or HSE.
Past employment experience.
Must have or be willing to obtain a valid Montana driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
Must pass acceptable criminal and protective services background checks.

Responsibilities

Work independently in an assigned location or region.
Travel by personal or AWARE vehicle to clients or service areas.
Lead and instruct participants in developing life skills.
Plan and lead recreational activities.
Implement interventions appropriate to each client’s age, cultural background, developmental stage, limitations related to disabling conditions, skills, and experience.
Model positive lifestyle skills by demonstrating and participating in activities alongside clients.
Assist the TRPD in creating intervention protocols that include short-term goals and criteria for assignments.
Observe client responses to interventions and communicate and collaborate with the TRPD and treatment team members.
Document intervention outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR), in accordance with policy, to support evaluation of the therapeutic recreation program’s effectiveness.
Provide the TRPD with client information at transition or discharge to assist with transition or discharge planning.
