Therapeutic Recreation Director - Senior Living Part-Time | 24 Hours per Week St. Joseph's Living Center | Windham, CT Make a difference in someone's life every day. Requirements

  • This role requires Connecticut‑qualified Therapeutic Recreation Director credentials. Recreation Assistants do not meet these requirements.
  • Candidates must meet at least one of the following CT qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree with a major emphasis in therapeutic recreation, OR
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and enrollment within six months of hire in a Connecticut‑approved therapeutic recreation certificate program, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with one year of full‑time therapeutic recreation experience in a healthcare facility, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with six credits in therapeutic recreation, OR
  • Associate’s degree in a related field with two years of full‑time therapeutic recreation experience, OR
  • Associate’s degree in a related field with nine credits in therapeutic recreation
  • Related fields may include: sociology, social work, psychology, recreation, art, music, dance, drama, health sciences, education, or other related fields as approved by the State of Connecticut.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and lead recreational and therapeutic activities that support residents’ physical, cognitive, and social well-being
  • Develop and maintain a monthly activity calendar with group, individual, and special event programming
  • Facilitate engaging activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities
  • Coordinate seasonal celebrations, special events, and community outings
  • Document resident participation and collaborate with nursing and care staff to support individualized wellness goals
  • Recruit volunteers as needed and maintain safe, organized activity spaces and supplies
