About The Position

New Horizon Community Care (NHCC) is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) who will serve as a positive role model to support, lead, and encourage youth and young adults. This role offers the chance to form lasting relationships, encourage positive behavior, and design activities to promote the overall welfare of participants, while increasing knowledge of social work, behavioral studies, and management skills. NHCC believes that personal relationships hold the key to changing behavior. NHCC is hiring BHTs and Para Professionals to support youth and adults through structured, therapeutic programs in Chandler, Tempe, Glendale, Phoenix, and Casa Grande. Our Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) play a critical role in our Therapeutic Recreation Program, supporting youth and young adults navigating at-risk behaviors in an after-school setting. BHTs provide mentorship, guidance, and care through trauma-informed approaches and cognitive behavior therapy, utilizing sports and activities as therapeutic tools. The role involves working closely with the clinical team to implement individualized treatment plans and ensure the safety and well-being of our clients.

Requirements

  • Experience with at‑risk youth or behavioral health populations
  • Strong communication & documentation skills
  • Ability to manage group dynamics
  • Comfort with structured environments
  • Willingness to learn crisis intervention
  • Meet state licensing requirements for BHTs/Para Professionals
  • 21+ years old
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid AZ Driver's License & insurable driving record
  • Must be able to obtain an AZ DPS Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card (Unrestricted)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and ensure safety
  • Facilitate groups, activities, and skill‑building sessions
  • Support treatment goals and behavior plans
  • Assist with documentation and case coordination
  • Provide crisis intervention when needed
  • Support academics (CHOICE)
  • Participate in recreation and movement‑based activities (Therapeutic Rec)
  • Collaborate with clinical and program teams
