Requirements

  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
  • In Department of Developmental Disabilities, must also possess a high school diploma or a certificate of high school equivalence pursuant to Chapter 5123:2-3-01(F) (1) (c).
  • For positions that require operation of motor vehicle to transport consumers to recreational, educational &/or occupational activities, a valid driver’s license is required.
  • -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

  • Assists patients to function independently in self-help and daily living skills by using variety of training techniques according to prescribed treatment plan at Franklin Medical Center (FMC) and assists with provisions of daily living activities (e.g., bathing and dressing, incontinence care, shaving, brushing teeth, clipping finger/toenails, serving meals, feeding meals)
  • Takes vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, oxygen saturation, height, and weight)
  • Measures and records meal and fluid intake, urinary and fecal output
  • Turns and repositions bedridden patients
  • Transfers/lifts patients into beds, wheelchairs, exam tables
  • Transports patients as needed
  • Examines patients for bruises, blood in urine and/or other injuries/wounds
  • Changes bed linens
  • Restocks rooms with necessary supplies
  • Answers call lights and assists patients accordingly
  • Observes patient behavior, complaints and physical symptoms and reports to nurses
  • Completes timely documentation of all care provided and data collected.
  • Participates in development of individual patient problem-oriented treatment plans
  • Responds to emergencies and provides emergency care accordingly
  • Performs simple treatments
  • Collects urine and fecal specimens
  • Participates in work related training and recertification programs, in-service training, meetings and/or exercises.
  • Provides assistance to other members of the healthcare team
  • Receives report from preceding shift and reports to oncoming shift
  • Assists nurses and providers with procedures as indicated
  • Assists nursing staff with admissions, discharges and transfers
  • Participates in quality assurance activities
  • Must conduct themselves professionally, and in a law-abiding manner at all times and in accordance with Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Standards of Employee Conduct
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
