About The Position

We are seeking a Housemate to join a supportive residential household in Seattle. This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate and well-grounded individual—especially those pursuing or considering a degree or career in mental health, psychology, social work, or related fields—who is interested in gaining hands-on experience working closely within a clinical team-based care model. A Housemate lives alongside an individual experiencing mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, neurodivergence, or related challenges and plays a meaningful role in supporting their overall well-being. This role is not just about caregiving; it’s about co-creating a stable, healthy, and human-centered living environment. This is not a typical roommate situation. The environment may at times include disorganization or emotional intensity, and success in this role requires flexibility, patience, and an understanding, nonjudgmental approach. Each household is fully supported by a dedicated clinical team, ensuring you are never alone in this work and always have guidance, supervision, and training.

Requirements

  • Experience in mental health or human services is preferred
  • Experience with neurodivergence (lived or professional) strongly preferred
  • Comfortable living in a non-traditional shared environment (including occasional messes/disorganization)
  • Strong patience, emotional regulation, and interpersonal awareness
  • Clear, respectful communication skills
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain appropriate boundaries
  • Comfortable with others entering or being present in the home (e.g., clinicians, visitors)

Nice To Haves

  • Have access to a car and are willing to occasionally drive/accompany (may be considered in compensation)
  • Are comfortable with technology and troubleshooting basic tech needs
  • Are good cooks and open to coaching/teaching simple meals
  • Are deep sleepers and can tolerate a late or nontraditional household schedule
  • Typically a good fit for individuals in their late 20s to mid-30s
  • Male-identifying housemate (assigned male at birth)

Responsibilities

  • Be present in the household, offering consistency, stability, and connection
  • Provide a grounded, supportive presence in daily life
  • Model and mirror a healthy lifestyle, including routines, communication, and self-care
  • Engage in supportive interactions that encourage recovery and independence
  • Support practical life skills such as cooking, organization, and daily routines (including coaching/teaching where helpful)
  • Occasionally accompany or provide transportation (if applicable)
  • Participate in ongoing training, supervision, and team collaboration within a clinical care framework

Benefits

  • Rent and utilities fully covered
  • Weekly stipend
  • Monthly food allowance
  • Opportunity to work up to 25 hours/week outside the home
  • Meaningful personal and professional development in a supportive, team-based environment
