About The Position

The therapeutic counselor will provide individual, family, and/or group therapy within the school setting based on the students identified IEP goals and/or clinical assessment; provide leadership and oversight to clinical operations including on-site crisis management, clinical and behavior consultation; and community resource referral as necessary.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in related field
  • Successful experience in therapeutic counseling
  • Associate level licensure in the State of Arizona in Counseling (LAC), Marriage and Family Therapy (LAMFTO), Social work (LASW).
  • One to two years’ experience providing mental health services to children, adolescents and their families in a Clinical, Behavior Health, Correction or Special Education System.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Able to perform the following physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation: critical sensory requirements include general vision, corrected to 20/20, hear or listen in the normal range (corrected) and speak and give directions clearly.
  • Able to walk, sit, stand, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, lift (exerting force up to 50 pounds).

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of Arizona Department of Education, the Arizona Regional Behavior Health Authority (RBHA) system, available community resources and treatment interventions for a variety of Mental Health Disorders preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, family and group therapy in addition to psychotherapy within the school setting, including: thorough assessments, and the development of Treatment Plan/Individual Education Plan service goals with the direct oversight of licensed supervisor.
  • Create and maintain clinical files with all documentation and clinical paperwork related to students/clients in accordance with Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (BBHE), as well as school policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate services with multidisciplinary team including educational staff and those involved in the support of the child, including but not limited to: educators, school psychologists, law enforcement, judicial system, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), Child Protective Services (CPS), Child and Family Team (CFT) facilitators, district representatives, and the community related to supporting the child and family.
  • Work collaboratively with the educational staff to identify positive interventions for student access.
  • Complete the required hours and documentation for independent licensure by BBHE in Arizona within the two year timeframe following all licensure laws according to A.A.C. ARS 4-6.
  • Perform all duties in a safe and prudent manner
  • Perform other duties relating to general job function as assigned by supervisor
