About The Position

FranU is looking for an Instructor of Theology for its Diaconate Formation Program. FranU provides the academic curriculum, while the Diocese oversees the human, spiritual, and pastoral formation for prospective permanent deacons. Interested applicants must be a Catholic Priest. This position provides effective instruction in assigned undergraduate courses on a part-time, temporary basis and is responsible for fulfilling and sustaining the duties and functions specified by established appointment and promotion criteria, including teaching and service to the school and community.

Requirements

  • At least one (1) year of teaching experience
  • Master’s Degree or successful completion of 18 credit hours Graduate study in the specific discipline
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Must be a Catholic Priest

Responsibilities

  • Prepares instruction that reflects stated course student learning outcomes
  • Construct classroom materials that support the goals of the course
  • Prepare thoroughly for each instructional hour; Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance, post grades in a timely manner
  • Implements curricular and instructional interventions
  • Develops student learning outcomes
  • Utilizes peer review and coaching
  • Applies what has been learned from formative and summative feedback on instruction
  • Engages in professional development activities to promote development in the scholarship of teaching and learning
  • Reflects on summative students’ evaluation of academic advising experience
  • Assesses reports and perceptions of peers and others regarding fidelity to academic advising roles and responsibilities
  • Presents at local, state, national and/or international professional conferences
  • Participates in local, state, national, or international professional agencies
  • Actively participates in community groups and organizations, as related to the College’s mission
  • Participates in committee work at the program, school, or institutional level (delineate roles and nature of participation)
  • Advises students through feedback, coaching, remediation, and engagement
  • Other duties as assigned or required
