About The Position

Cubberley Community Center Theatre, part of the City of Palo Alto’s Community Services Department, is seeking a motivated and adaptable Theatre Technician to join our team. This entry-level position is ideal for an individual eager to learn, grow, and advance their technical, customer service, and interpersonal skills, while supporting a busy performing arts venue. The ideal candidate will have: A foundational knowledge of production standards across a diverse range of performance types, including classical/popular music, dance, and theatre. Hands-on experience with sound recording, playback, and live reinforcement, as well as familiarity with large, permanent theatrical lighting systems and computerized light boards. The ability to adapt to the varying technical needs of our users is essential in venues host a wide variety of community and professional groups. A positive attitude, willingness to learn and a collaborative spirit.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, safety inspections, and troubleshooting of theatrical lighting, sound, and staging equipment.
• Provide on-site production support and stage management expertise for facility users with varying levels of theatrical experience.
• Work effectively alongside both volunteer and professional stagehands to ensure seamless event execution.
• Strictly enforce facility safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a secure environment for staff, performers, and patrons.
• Utilize strong interpersonal skills and a customer-service orientation to assist clients, resolve issues positively, and maintain a collaborative atmosphere.
