About The Position

The employee is responsible for providing professional and courteous front-of-house operational duties and customer support for the event spaces at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, including the Michael A. Guido Theater, Lincoln Ballroom, and other event spaces. The employee also ensures the safety and comfort of all clients and patrons. This role involves managing day-of-event duties throughout the entire event process, from pre-event preparations to post-event closing. The position requires availability for evenings and weekends based on the facility's event schedule.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
  • Experience dealing with a wide variety of people in a multitude of situations in a polite, yet direct, fashion.
  • Must submit to a criminal history check (including sex offender registry if applicable) and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of professional experience in a similar role in the event hospitality or performing arts industry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and manage day of event duties, throughout the entire event process.
  • Perform pre-show safety checks and venue walkthroughs.
  • Address any appearance and/or safety problems and perform light cleanup duties as needed.
  • Assist clients and vendors with event setup and cleanup as needed.
  • Ensure venue space is accessible to patrons at necessary times.
  • Communicate with Technical staff and client to verify and implement proper event times.
  • Coordinate and manage volunteer ushers.
  • Oversee correct seat placement throughout the event venue.
  • Communicate emergency procedures and exit patterns to volunteer ushers prior to each performance.
  • Act as liaison between patrons and box office to resolve seating problems.
  • Assist late-arriving guests and monitor guest movement throughout an event.
  • Interact with patrons, and provide answers or guidance for all questions or complaints.
  • Oversee preparation and distribution of event programs.
  • Perform post-event venue walkthroughs, check for litter and personal belongings, and return found items.
  • Communicate with maintenance staff any areas of concern.
  • Turn off lights in public areas and lock all interior and exterior doors after each event.
  • Complete accident report forms for any and all incidents occurring while on duty.
  • Follow facility emergency procedures and handle all emergency situations affecting patrons and the building while on duty.
  • Notify emergency authorities and theater personnel as required.
  • Coordinate emergency actions with the Stage Manager, ushers, and building security personnel.
  • Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
