The Market Baker Part-Time
About The Position
The Market at Pineland Farms is seeking a part-time baker to join their talented team. This is a year-round position. The ideal candidate will be a hardworking person with a great attitude and a willingness to learn from and work with others. Candidates with previous experience in baking will be given priority, but the company is willing to train the right person with no experience. This team member will learn to bake bagels from scratch while working 2-3 shifts per week, primarily mornings starting at 5 AM. Sundays are mandatory, though occasional time off requests will be honored. Pay rate starts at $17/hour (more with experience), plus pooled tips.
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving standardized situations
- Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in baking preferred
- ServSafe certification (will train the right candidate)
Responsibilities
- Follow established recipes accurately meeting food safety standards
- Operate commercial baking equipment (e.g., ovens, mixers, etc.)
- Ensure all baked goods meet freshness and quality standards
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations
- Properly handle and store all baking ingredients and supplies per safety and established protocols
- Interact with customers when needed, providing product information and taking orders
- Collaborate with other kitchen and bakery staff
