About The Position

The Dispatcher Coordinator provides leadership to the agency’s dispatch staff. Supervises dispatch functions such as training, quality assurance/quality improvement, compliance, data interpretation and strategic planning. Works in coordination with the Statewide Dispatch Deputy Chief, Field Ops personnel and other agency departments to provide high quality services. Works with various programs to provide support services. Serve as a representative to Southern Area Coordination Center for the agency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Fire Administration, Business Administration or related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience with a fire or emergency response agency.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Sound judgement.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead others.
  • Ability to work long hours in time of need.
  • Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Class C drivers license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of date of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Emergency Management, Fire Administration or related field.
  • NWCG Qualification of Expanded Dispatch Supervisory Dispatcher (EDSP), Initial Attack Dispatcher (IADP) and Aircraft Dispatcher (ACDP).

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and direction to assigned team. Develop and maintain excellence in delivery of assigned programs. Serve as Subject Matter Expert for Dispatch and Intelligence Programs. Participate in Emergency Response by providing oversight to dispatch, intel and general coordination programs. Ensure the agency remains in compliance with all state and federal regulations. Emergency Response is an essential duty of this position.
  • Provides oversight and leadership to assigned staff. Work with staff on employee development opportunities. Build and maintain depth in positions. Monitor and assist with assigned tasks. Build and maintain depth in positions. Utilize non-assigned staff for response functions when possible to build knowledge. Establish, maintain and model a service-oriented culture that supports the organizational values.
  • Ensure budgets and inventory are properly managed. Collaborate with others to ensure grant goals and objectives are completed. Ensure grant money is properly used and reported on. Ensure the maintenance and proper operations of dispatch space, system and equipment.
  • Work with USFS on staffing and other needs at Texas Inter-agency Coordination Center. Ensure building is properly maintained. Works closely with Deputy Chief ESF4 Statewide Dispatch to improve systems.
  • Ensure all administrative duties are completed properly, such as environmental health and safety, credit card compliance, fuel logs, and related duties.
