About The Position

Responsible for all duties as assigned by the Store Manager, including sorting textiles (soft goods, clothing, bedding, linens), examining product for condition, and ensuring the best highest quality textiles are put on the sales floor. This position is based in a retail store environment. Duties include work in the warehouse area, which can involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise, dust, and the physical handling of goods. The role requires standing and walking for extended periods, frequent bending and lifting, and the ability to safely move merchandise and materials. Weekend and evening work required.

Requirements

  • Ability to count, add, and subtract.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Ability to follow all safety rules.
  • Must be able to operate a tagging gun.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively perform all functions of the job.
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and reach for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Use of both hands.
  • Good manual and finger dexterity.
  • Ability to visually inspect and eliminate non-saleable donations.

Responsibilities

  • Sort textiles (soft goods, clothing, bedding, linens).
  • Examine product for condition.
  • Ensure the highest quality textiles are put on the sales floor.
  • Process textiles (clothing, linens, bedding).
  • Sort based on store criteria minimizing trash and salvaging while focusing on quality.
  • Identify items that are priced by management, i.e. high value or unique items.
  • Utilize computer to price items of value to price accordingly.
  • Maintain productivity as demonstrated by meeting minimum production numbers as established and communicated by management.
  • Track and record number of pieces processed.
  • Use tagging gun to appropriately tag all pieces.
  • Consistently follow established safety rules.
  • Report safety accidents and hazards when known and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area.
  • Utilize the proper equipment and supplies in meeting the safety standards.
  • Be responsive and respectful towards others within the organization.
  • Promote internal and external customer service through effective communication.
  • Display appropriate behavior (courteous and respectful interactions) with fellow employees.
  • Follow established processes according to Kaizen standards.
  • Maintain workstation supplies.
  • Complete work station 5 minute clean up daily.
  • Demonstrate regard for Goodwill’s assets including property, and equipment.
