Your Opportunity As the Texas Structural Lead, you will oversee bridge design and inspection projects across the state, providing leadership in project delivery, team development, resource management, and financial performance. You will help grow and strengthen our Texas structural team while supporting Stantec’s continued success in delivering transportation projects. You will ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while mentoring staff and maintaining strong client relationships. This role requires strong technical and leadership skills to manage clients, budgets, schedules, and project teams, while providing guidance and support to staff. You will also play a key role in growing client relationships, expanding our structural project portfolio, and helping position Stantec to win new business opportunities.

Requirements

  • Responsible for managing and delivering successful projects in our transportation business line
  • Ability to interact internally throughout the organization with staff at all levels as well as externally with clients, members of business and professional organizations, subcontractors, and other firms
  • Motivated, energetic team player who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment
  • Ability to thrive on collaboration with cross-functional teams and a client-focused environment across a broad range of project sectors
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • TX PE license.
  • Minimum of 15 years structural design experience.
  • TxDOT Precertification.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
  • Strongly prefer candidates to possess demonstrated community relationships and partnerships in Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and mentor a team of structural engineering professionals.
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative work culture by encouraging open communication, supporting team development, and fostering an environment where staff feel valued and empowered.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and execute business development, contributing towards winning new work, and individually pursue and lead pursuits.
  • Consult and network with key clients and contribute to client account planning as required.
  • Manage team workload and resource planning to maximize productivity, maintain balanced utilization, and distribute tasks fairly, while aligning the right skills to project needs.
  • Oversee contract terms, invoicing, track costs and schedules, and implement proactive measures to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
  • Follow and promote company policies and best practices related to risk, project, and quality management.
  • Promoting collaboration and teamwork across business lines and geographies.
  • Oversee and manage projects serving as the Project Manager, Technical Lead, and/or Task Manager for transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Provide internal leadership in coaching, engagement, and retention.
  • Participate in business development and project pursuits, leading preparation of work proposals to clients.
  • Coordinate with other structural teams within Stantec for work sharing, proposal preparation, and general support.
  • Commit to continuous improvement in QA/QC processes and foster a culture of being cost effective and thorough.
