Requirements

  • 8 years of related experience
  • Minimum 5 years in manual and automated testing
  • Bachelor’s degree in technology, software development and/or accounting/business is preferred; OR in lieu of degree, an additional 5 years of relevant work experience is required
  • With limited direction, carry out procedures to ensure that Payroll application products and services meet organizational standards and end-user requirements.
  • Motivated self-starter with excellent analytical, organization, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to invoke logical reasoning to analyze computer processes and results and make deductions based on the information available.
  • Deep knowledge of software development cycle and testing methodologies.
  • Proficient in running manual tests, and able to recognize when and how to incorporate automated testing processes to enhance efficiency and reduce expenses.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Understanding of payroll cycles, tax calculations, deductions, benefits, etc.
  • Understanding of Payroll Calculations such as gross-to-net pay, benefits deductions, garnishments, bonuses.
  • Understanding of Payroll Cycle end-to-end processes such as new hire onboarding, timesheet and HR integration, payroll simulation, paycheck creation, termination/final pay processing.
  • Understanding of Retroactive calculations and back pay for salary revisions.
  • Basic understanding of accounting related to payroll.
  • Attention to Detail: Critical for identifying discrepancies in payroll calculations that could lead to financial penalties or legal issues
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze issues and payroll anomalies, determine if a discrepancy is a system bug or input error, and work with developers to resolve them.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders, Solutions Architects, Product Owner, Managers and Developers.
  • Time Management: Manage testing schedules to meet deadlines and payroll cycles.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting
  • The USPS security clearance process requires the selected candidate to have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years as follows: U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions). Non-U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee the testing strategy
  • Allocate resources effectively for testing activities
  • Manage automation testers, functional testers, and CAT testers
  • Assist in identifying appropriate test environments for each release
  • Collaborate with the Environment Management Team and SCRUM teams
  • Act as the Testing Lead, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate and report to the application team leaders, business partners, and ELT on a routine basis
  • Ability to cross train and mentor the testing team, including other vendors and USPS resources
  • Responsible for Chaos and HA testing
  • Evaluate and design testing procedures to ensure that software meets established quality standards.
  • Develop and write testing scripts and plans to ensure that software functions as expected.
  • Prepare complex data sets to test logic, error handling and system workflows.
  • Conduct testing of more complex features and verify fixes.
  • Monitor and document testing procedures and results are in compliance with required USPS Technology Solution Life Cycle (TSLC) standards.
  • Verify that each feature of the software works as specified in the requirements.
  • Perform Smoke Testing: Quick, initial testing for critical functions.
  • Perform Regression Testing: Ensure new code changes haven't broken existing functionality.
  • Perform End-to-End (E2E) Testing: Validate complete system/user flows from start to finish.
